Wrap-Up

Things and stuff, people. I'm so mentally frazzled I can only respond to people as if I were Frankenstein's monster:

Halloween GOOOOOD!
Weekend GOOOOOOD!
Boy BAAAAAD!
FIRE GOOOOD! Well, if you're talking about The Fire, anyway. Otherwise, you know, FIRE BAAAAD!

Gah. Have a good Halloween!

Around 1980, a local university had student government run such things, and miscreants came up before this group to receive their just sentences. The best part of the student paper was the letters section, where offenders apologised for things and wrote mini-essays on the importance of not discharging fire extinguishers in the dorm hallways no matter how much you might want to.

The most common person addressed in apologies was the assistant librarian, who turned in everybody who committed library offenses.

I told her one day that the part I liked best was where she broke their spirit, and she just beamed.

One week, there was an apology from an offender who simply told the student goverment and the assistant librarian to f*ck off, and that was the end of that form of punishment. There's been no reason to read the paper since.

So, I am just wondering, how is it that nobody rebels against this stuff today? As if an organization needs to help you.
