Note to School Admins:

If your school policy shows up on Fark with a STUPID tag, it's not, you know, a compliment.

Here's the article.

Here's the Fark commentary, which brings the necessary snark quite nicely. Favorite comment so far:

I don't know about you, but I can't think of a better way to ensure Wiccans are never discriminated against than to make them the primary reason for the cancellation of all Halloween activities.

"I do lots of things that are not revolving around wearing a black outfit and stirring a cauldron," said Wiccan Priestess Cheryl Sulyma-Masson in an interview with ABC News where she explained that Wiccans (or Pagan Clergy) celebrate nature, not Satan.

She kept her maiden name.

I found it interesting that the article didn't contain any interviews or quotes from Wiccans that supported the ban. Not making a terrific case for Wiccans being the people offended there gang. And thanks so much for protecting school age children from something that might be, you know, FUN. Sheesh. Morons.

A Wiccan-style blessing upon the Democrats in this election year: "May you always get just what you deserve, and may it come back to you three-fold."

It puts me in mind of the British schools that banned hot cross buns and "The Three Little Pigs" so as not to offend Muslims, and the local Muslims protesting that they liked hot cross buns and while they didn't eat pigs, they didn't object to their kids reading about them.

If people have time to make up problems to fret about, then I guess overall things must not be so bad.
