Dispatch from War-Torn...Iowa?

Okay, guess what prompted this heartfelt plea:

"I see people crying out for justice, and they do it the worst way. I stay because my heart will not let me leave."

A brave freedom fighter in some war-torn country? A would-be refugee? A victim of political violence?

Umm, no.

Fight the power, brave little rioter for justice and beer!

Dear God.

I guess I still can't figure out what the deal is with young people and rioting. Deny 'em beer, and they riot. Let their sports team lose, and they riot. Let their sports team win, and they riot. Let them try to get into a sold-out event, like a concert, and they riot.

We don't typically do things like this down South. Why do the young people in the rest of the country feel like this is acceptable behavior? Maybe we don't do it down here, because if we did we know what would happen. Like Daddy would get out the razor strap, and we'd be out behind the woodshed getting our backsides tanned, even if we were 25 years old.

I have lost count of how many times that article features the "f" word and or some variation thereof. In Iowa! Who knew? It makes me think that I should abandon that word at is now officially overused and unhip.
